About

Cultural Leadership Project is to build a collective dialogue among emerging artists and advocates for community and cultural revival. Starting in Austin, the project will draw upon creative professionals (of music, art, film, design, writing, theater, dance, etc.) who publicly identify with our Cultural Leadership pledge.

“I commit to edify the spirit of culture and community through my life and work.”

Collectively, we believe we can forge avenues that help artists discover their highest aspirations and make their greatest contributions. We want to see local communities caring for their artists – not only in their careers, but in their personal lives and in their families. A healthy and flourishing culture is not sustainable without the health and flourishing of the creatives who are contributing to the culture’s well being, particularly on the local community level.

MISSION: generate a demand for Cultural Leadership and produce inspiring role models among a new generation of artists at the forefront of cultural change.

Creative professionals who are committed to edify the spirit of culture and community need:

  • Peer Challenges: Project participants challenge one another to keep the CL pledge, to grow as role models who pursue excellence in character as well as craft.
  • Leadership Development Training: CL workshops, summits, and retreats.
  • Community Support: We are to be intentional about helping each other build a quality family as well as a quality of art.
  • Audience / Artist Rapport: We facilitate the strengthening of more credible relationships between our artists and their audience.
  • Collaborations: Participants gain more opportunities to collaborate with other like minded creative professionals.
  • Shared Resources: All participants are encouraged to share their resources.
  • Networking: Our growing network means more opportunities with potential investors, producers, distributors, and grassroots promoters.
  • Fiscal Sponsorship: A 501-c3 umbrella is available for members of the collective who want to receive donations.
  • Sustainability: Members learn how to build a community of support that is sustainable, which means our members go further in supporting not just a family life but also a life of creative exploration.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: We seek partnerships with more established professionals who want to give our members an edge by sharing with us what they’ve learned.
  • Service Opportunities: Meaningful and fun community service outreaches are made available.
